Butterfield Trail Village - Fayetteville, Arkansas

Butterfield Trail Village’s LifeCare community is a c complex of interconnected buildings featuring private living accommodations with centralized services.  The focus is on the individual comfort and well-being of every aspect of their member’s lives.  The same level of care and sensitivity for the natural environment was present during the development and construction of the new 60-bed Alzheimer Care Unit designed by Miller Boskus Lack. Butterfield Trail Village Alzheimer Care “houses” are sited in such a way they create a  secure internal courtyard garden.  The site is also connected to the Fayetteville Parks and Trails System. Limiting site disturbance and recycling were encouraged during construction.  Natural daylighting and ventilation was provided to each room. High efficiency windows, recycled paper insulation, low VOC paints and finishes, and recycled carpet were all used throughout the building complex.  A geothermal boiler system was devised to heat and cool the building, and all Energy Star appliances were used.
