Northwest Arkansas Community College - Bentonville, Arkansas
Miller Boskus Lack Architect assisted Northwest Arkansas Community College prepare a Master Plan for the growth of the college through the milestone years of 2010 and 2015. With the assistance of numerous administration, faculty, and community groups both current and future needs were outlined in great detail. With the input of the Board of Trustees a very comprehensive list of goals for the future were articulated. Miller Boskus Lack translated these goals into a Master Plan that divided future growth into two major phases. The first phase, which includes a new student center, a large general classroom building, and large parking structure, will take place south of the railroad tracks by 2010. The second phase, which includes large classroom building, a large parking structure, a University Partnership Building, an Art Center and an Institute on Domestic Preparedness Center, will continue north of the railroad tracks through 2015. The Master Plan clearly charts the locations of these new buildings, parking structures, site circulation and amenities, and needed infrastructure to facilitate the rapid expansion of the campus that is projected. One primary goal of the Master Plan was to create a “special landmark collegiate place” with college buildings placed along a well-landscaped “green” that linked the entire campus with inviting pedestrian pathways. The Master Plan also established development guidelines that defined the architectural vocabulary to be followed for all future development on campus.
