Clarksville Aquatic Center

CLIENT: CITY OF CLARKSVILLE

TIME PERIOD: 2015

ROLE: ARCHITECT

Committing considerable effort and resources to community recreation facilities, the Parks and Recreation Division of Clarksville, Arkansas hired us to design a new, state-of-the-art municipal Aquatic Center. The facility opened with great excitement and now provides year round enjoyment for Clarksville and the surrounding communities by utilizing an all-glass enclosure housing an eight lane, twenty-five yard competition lap pool and separate, warm water therapy pool. The enclosure is equipped with a retractable roof to adjust to any season.

Outside the enclosure, large, colorful water slides empty into a pool connected to a lazy river. A fourth pool is enlivened with spray, play, splash features to thrill children of all ages. Playful umbrellas and shade structures cover the ample pool deck. Creative placement of the changing room and concessions buildings create exterior spaces for gathering, snacking and cooling off in the shade.

The facility is a great example of the type of flexibility and diverse offerings Fayetteville is interested in implementing in their new facility. At Clarksville Aquatic Center, the therapy pool is a big hit with Senior Citizens and the local Physical Therapy providers. The lap pool serves local swim teams, but is also used for swim lessons and general recreation. Children and parents both love the “fun water” pools and features out in the sun.
