Ozark Community Center

CLIENT: CITY OF OZARK

TIME PERIOD: 2018

ROLE: ARCHITECT

The City of Ozark, Arkansas, sought to transform a former textile factory into a multifaceted community hub, including City Hall, a police station, and a community center with an indoor aquatic facility. MBL embraced the challenge of delivering a cost-effective, sustainable solution that met the city’s diverse needs. By strategically removing a section of the existing roof, we integrated a pre-engineered metal building to house a gymnasium with basketball courts, a walking track, and party rooms. We remodeled portions of the facility for changing rooms, administration, and equipment storage, ensuring efficient use of the existing structure.

The aquatic component features an enclosed pool building, utilizing a pre-engineered metal frame for economical long spans and storefront glazing on three sides to maximize natural daylight. Operable windows facilitate cross breezes in the summer, while the enclosure maintains warmth for year-round use. The pool design includes a four-lane, 25-meter competition pool with an adjoined zero-entry leisure pool, and a separate, warmer therapy pool with ramped entry, catering to diverse user groups.

The Ozark Community Center exemplifies MBL’s ability to deliver multiple pool types under one roof, balancing budget constraints with functionality and aesthetics. The facility serves as a regional recreational hub, offering competition, therapy, and leisure activities in a sustainable, community-focused design.
